Scholar’s Mom Nominates a Very Deserving Mentor

July 22, 2010 – The grateful mother of a Starfish alumnus nominated her son’s mentor for the 2010 United Way of Central Indiana Diversity Volunteer Awards – and he won.

Tanya Martin was looking for a way to say thank you to a man who has filled some of the blanks in her son Chrisjaan’s life. She found the opportunity through UWCI and decided to take a chance at nominating him. John Scott has been a mentor with Starfish Initiative since 2005 and is now mentoring his third Starfish Scholar.
