Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Starfish Initiative. We want our volunteers to have a great experience, do meaningful work, and further our mission! We hope one or more of these opportunities appeals to you.
There are three ways you can be involved:
Mentoring: Work one-on-one with a promising student. If you have a college degree and time to give, this may be the perfect fit for you. The simple act of sharing your experiences at college will prompt your Scholar to picture himself or herself in the same place. Memories about everything from late night studying to late night cheeseburgers, from filling out financial aid forms to asking professors for help – all these things prepare a high school student for the hard work and the joys of college. Click here for more information and to apply. To talk one-on-one with a staff member, contact Jessica at 317.452.8588 or email her at jessica@starfishinitiative.org.
Special Events: If you have a few hours a few times a year, you can work one of our events. Help with set-up, registration, or behind the scenes to make the event memorable. Our next special event is our 4th Annual Starfish Story Fundraising Breakfast on August 26, 2011. For information about how you can lend a hand, contact Bethany at bethany@starfishinitiative.org.
Office Assistance: Every office needs good people to welcome guests, take phone calls and help with assorted projects. Once a month – or once a week – come to Starfish and spend a morning or afternoon staffing the reception desk. For more information, contact Jessica at jessica@starfishinitiative.org.
We hope you will consider volunteering in one of these areas. Check back from time to time for new opportunities that may fit your unique skills. Thank you again for your interest in joining the Starfish team. We hope we see you soon! |
